GRACE TROWBRIDGE SPECIAL TO THE MIRAMICHI LEADER
A large crowd turned out to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, Nov. 26, to take in the annual Gerry Cormier Christmas to Remember fundraising concert.
This was the 18th straight year the event has helped kick off the Christmas season in Miramichi while raising money for deserving local charities.
Cormier, who passed away last June, had organized the event every year since its inception as a way of giving back to the community. His good friend, Susan Butler, had taken on those duties for the last two shows.
Proceeds from the concert will be directed toward the Miramichi Youth House, the Miramichi Emergency Centre for Women and the St. Mary’s Christmas Hampers program.
The night featured performances from several local choirs and soloists, as well as a special performance from the children who make up Miramichi’s new Sistema classical music program.
