Three community choirs and the Tutta Musica orchestra will gather on one stage in Moncton on Sunday afternoon for a special event: Choral Symphony: Voices and Instruments in Harmony. The performance will feature almost 200 singers and musicians.
The Greater Moncton Chorale, the In Harmony District Children's Choir and the Jeunes chanteurs d'Acadie are all taking part.
Melody Dobson, conductor of the Greater Moncton Chorale, said the groups will perform individually as well as a mass choir.
"Each choir will present themselves with just piano accompaniment conducted by their own directors and then Tutta Musica will play something by themselves, so each ensemble is heard individually, and then we start combining.
"So then each choir sings with the orchestra and then, at the very end, the grand finale is when we put all 200 participants on stage at the same time, bumping into each other and singing two final numbers together," she said.
Sabrina Perry, a member of Tutta Musica, which is composed of teaching artists from Sistema New Brunswick, says the program will consist of a variety of different musical styles.

"We have a really cool variety, actually, which is really exciting for me as ... a violinist we often get these classical music gigs all the time, but it's cool to be able to play such a variety," she said.
Concert-goers will be treated to classical fare, such as Mozart's Requiem, right alongside selections from the musicals Carousel and The Sound of Music.
Perry says the event, initiated by Tutta Musica, was really a way to connect, not just with an audience, but with other artists.
"Tutta Musica really wants to connect with all of the other arts organizations in the city, so I think we were really excited to get the opportunity to work with multiple choirs and get to know the other musicians in the city," she said.
Choral Symphony: Voices and Instruments in Harmony is at the Moncton Weslyan Celebration Centre at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
