Guest Conductor for February 19-21, 2016 rehearsal-concert weekend in Fredericton--Jean-Philippe Tremblay is Artistic Director and Founder of Orchestre de la Francophonie.

Following exciting fall 2015 performances in Bathurst and Edmundston, and a dazzling 2016 debut in Saint John on January 10th, the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra brings its INSPIRING EXCELLENCE / INSPIRER L'EXCELLENCE concert tour to Fredericton for the weekend of February 19–21, 2016. This season’s NBYO repertoire includes Tchaikovsky’s exquisite Symphony No. 1 in G Minor—Winter Daydreams, as well as the spectacular Star Wars Suite for Orchestra by John Williams.

NBYO is very pleased to announce that Jean-Philippe Tremblay has accepted an invitation to serve as NBYO Guest Conductor for the February 21st INSPIRING EXCELLENCE / INSPIRER L'EXCELLENCE concert at Théâtre Bernard-Poirier, Centre Communautaire Sainte-Anne, 715 Priestman St, Fredericton.

Donations at NBYO concerts and at public appearances by orchestra members so far this season have raised $4,500 in support of Syrian refugee relief. Funds donated and collected through February 29, 2016 will be matched by the Government of Canada. NBYO donations are being managed in collaboration with World Vision Canada.

The Sunday, February 21st NBYO concert begins at 2 PM. Advanced ticket sales are available from:

Mr. Tremblay is the founder and artistic director of the Orchestre de la Francophonie (O.F.). Under his leadership, the orchestra has given more than 250 concerts across Canada, China and the United States. In recent seasons, Tremblay has led, as guest conductor, prestigious European ensembles: the Orchestre National de France, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Spanish National Orchestra, and radio orchestras in Prague, Dresden and Budapest.

In America, Tremblay  has been guest conductor of symphony orchestras in Winnipeg, Montreal, Québec City, London, Kitchener and Edmonton, as well as the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C., the Orchestra of the Manhattan School of Music, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, and the Simón Bolivar Youth Orchestra.
